I wish I had better news. I wish that no one ever had to struggle like my friends, Katya and Sasha, are currently struggling. He has been in the hospital for a month. Not intending to be overly critical or disrespectful, but the conditions in this place are not conducive to healing. It’s more like a convalescent hospital where it’s “every man for himself.” There are no aides to make you comfortable or bring your food to you. Russians love to celebrate. And they do it well! Traditions abound and birthdays are occasions to speak words of blessing and congratulation into the lives of your close people.
