I wish I had better news. I wish that no one ever had to struggle like my friends, Katya and Sasha, are currently struggling. He has been in the hospital for a month.

Not intending to be overly critical or disrespectful, but the conditions in this place are not conducive to healing. It’s more like a convalescent hospital where it’s “every man for himself.” There are no aides to make you comfortable or bring your food to you. If you need medical attention, you need to go find the one nurse on duty. The doctors? Oh, they are away for the 5-day holiday.
Nevertheless, Sasha and Katya press on. He shares the gospel with his 4 roommates. She fetches food and drink for the ones who have no family to come and help them. At night, she goes home to tend to her 2 little girls, to cook for them, and to somehow find time to rest. There is no end in sight as he as yet does not have a diagnosis. Just an infection which they are “treating” with oral antibiotics. Katya has to remind the nurse to irrigate the drainage tubes. She advocates for her husband with a vengeance. The doctor in charge of his case said to her: why do you keep pestering me with so many questions? Your husband will die either this month or next…so what does it matter?
Friends – please thank God tonight for all of the blessings we enjoy. And ask His mercy on this precious family. I guarantee you, I watered the floor of the hospital with my tears yesterday, and hope that a few drops fell on fertile soil for the gospel.
So touching to my heart. I’m praying.
I appreciate you, Carolyn.
I am praying. I see the face of Jesus when i look at the photo of Sasha.
yes, Jesus is there with him and in him.
oh joy! hospital ministry! sasha is doing a ministry that is near and dear to my heart, i met God for the first time in a hospital room after meeting a gideon who listen to my moanings and groanings of life and left me with a new testament. perhaps sasha and katya are working soil? i wonder if God is excited at all by their stewardship of time there.
reading this makes me happy on the inside, (thats the best kind). i will continue to pray with and for them!
I’m sure God has a good plan for Sasha–and that it includes this stint in the hospital. He truly lives the verse: for me to live is Christ…
