What I’ve Been Reading: One kind of book I especially love is the genre of FREE. As in, no cost. Yes, I’m constantly on the lookout for a great deal for new books. Scanning facebook for “today only on Amazon. ” Looking forward to the first of every month when I get a “Kindle First” email and get to choose a pre-release novel with the price tag of $.00. For instance, for my October selection I’m reading a book called Wake in Winter. I chose it because it is written by a Moscovite, Nadeszhda Belenkaya, and translated by American Andrea…
Another Welcome and Thanks to New Subscribers
Perhaps a bit overdue, but just want to send out a truly heartfelt and grateful welcome to all my new subscribers. I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek at the chapter from Her Shining Eyes, and the glimpses into my crazy life through my blog posts. I also hope you’ve recognized my heart, which is to show you the authentic “me” and draw you toward considering authenticity for yourself. More on Authentic Fiction–books I recommend
More on Authentic Fiction – books I recommend. In my last post I offered an explanation of authenticity and how it correlates to writing fiction. If you missed it, you can read it HERE. Others don’t necessarily agree with me. Some claim that fiction shouldn’t be authentic—that fiction shouldn’t lean into reality other than having plausibility. I hadn’t given this aspect of my career as an author much thought until it was time to re-do my website. And suddenly, there is was. “Writing Authentic Fiction.” Something that felt right. Real. And maybe a bit unique. At least I hoped so. But what is Authentic Fiction? How can fiction (which is inherently “not true”) also be authentic (which is inherently based on truth)? Do inquiring minds want…
Resurrection Day in Russia!
EASTER IN RUSSIA! The time has come again to stuff my suitcases and prepare my heart (and my nerves) for another trek to the other side of the globe. If you are wondering, this is my 17th adventure to Russia. I’m so grateful I still have the health, energy, and funds to “GO.” As the official ministry of CrossRoads Samara has closed, my time there will take on a slightly different flavor. Although I will miss the larger gatherings sponsored by the CrossRoads office, I will have more freedom to respond to invitations from churches, rehabilitation centers, Bible groups, and…
