Jim Cymbala’s latest release, The Rescue, is a little book with a big heart. Packed into its 177 pages are the stories of seven individuals who in desperate circumstances find hope in the love of Christ. As the book’s title suggests, each person had come to the end of his- or herself in some way, and through the encouragement of a Christian believer, is rescued by hearing the gospel and embracing its truth.
The book is a quick, easy read, and although a bit pricey for its size ($16.99 hardcover retail), would make a nice gift. The message is strongly evangelical and uplifting in a simple, straightforward way. Personal testimonies have a certain, indisputable power to them. They speak for themselves and don’t require “interpretation” or any sort of follow-up teaching. That’s what you’ll find in The Rescue.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review through Handlebar Central. (Which, by the way, is a great gig if you love to read like I do!)
