This is a shot out the front window as we entered what So Cal natives call the “LA Basin.” A couple of you will recognize the off ramp. It’s the one that Iwould take to get to my childhood home in Reseda. But we didn’t go there. No, we kept right on truckin’ through traffic like this and worse. Some better. But what do you notice here? Do you see ANY other RVs? No. And neither did we. Not a single one after we left the beach cities of Santa Barbara and Ventura. Somebody knows a better route to Oceanside. We need to discover it. It’s not the 101 to the 405 to the 5.
Nevertheless, we made it! Ken had only mild road rage, so I’ll give him a “4” (my Russian friends will know what that means). Here are a few more pictures of our day:
We get to fuel up with the big boys!
Captain Ken at the helm. Do you see the tight jaw? The clenched hands? Actually, he handled the stressful drive really well.
Yes, someone paved Paradise and put up a parking lot in Oceanside, CA…for RVers like us. The good news is that it’s a short walk to the beach and only 10 minutes from my parents’ place. So we’re all set up and ready for guests. Are you in the area? Come on by!

You made me smile with portraying Ken’s posture (this time relaxed, but otherwise “the tight jaw”, “the clenched hands”:) I am sure it takes a lot of courage to appear to be the only RV + the 5th wheel on a busy highway! But what a comfy stay it gives once you are at a parking lot:) What an adventure:)
