The Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference ( http://mounthermon.org/adult/professionals/writers-conference ) is the PREMIER event of its kind in all of the USA–maybe the world. And I almost didn’t go this year. What was I thinking? Five days of hanging out with awesome, brilliant and successful writers, agents and publishers. The beauty of the Santa Cruz mountains all around me. More classes, workshops, singing praises, laughing, and chattin’ it up than this introverted editor can hardly bear. Oh, and no cooking for 5 days. That’s a bonus.
I know most of you loyal readers have never been to a writers conference (with good reason), but maybe you’re just a tiny bit curious about exactly what goes on. If so, this is the spot to check over the next five days to get pictures and updates about my Mount Hermon 2010 experience.
Yes, I have some goals and expectations. I’ve sent in a few things for consideration to publishing house editors. I have my co-authored children’s novel in my back pocket, hoping that someone will have some words of wisdom for me as to where to pursue its publication. I even have a roughed-out non-fiction book proposal that I’ll be pitching to– (name undisclosed right now.)
But aside from all that, I know that five days in the midst of a place surrounded by fellow Christians in a locale dedicated to God and serving Him will lift me and inspire me to what is truly important…making a difference for God’s Kingdom. That’s my hope. That’s who I am. That’s why I’m going again this year.
Stay tuned!
I’m thinking of you sitting next to me at my first conference. The sign, ‘Come, Follow Me’, hanging for all to see. It seems like a life time ago.
I will keep you in my prayers as I know I’m in yours.
Love ya lots.
